A Helpful Reminder From Brad DeLong

The United States Government can now borrow money for 20 years at less than zero percent interest. Yet nobody seems to care.

  1. I've been caring, Josh, I've been caring. When you tell people that investors are so confident in the US government that they'll pay the feds to sit on their money (inflation aside natch), you get blank stares back.

I think it's education - we are so bad off in our high school civics classes that people don't even bat an eye at the "the budget needs to be run like a family" crap.

  2. Fight the good fight Drew!

Civics should take a different form, I think. By civics we mean "naive account of checks and balances."

We should mean "Basic course in political and economic thought."
